05 · Selection method

How to make the final choice

A product page tells you what a component can do. Your measured setup determines whether it belongs in the system.

Design from the bike out

Consult the motorcycle manual or maker for transport points. Avoid controls, brake lines, wiring, exhaust, sharp edges, plastic, and any component not intended to carry securement load.

Stabilize both ends

A secure wheel stop establishes position; front and rear restraint control lean, fore-aft motion, and bounce. Follow the selected system’s instructions rather than copying a generic strap count.

Inspect after loading

Shake-test clearance, verify every pin and hook, tie off tails, remove the side stand if the instructions require, and recheck tension and position shortly after departure.

Safety boundary

Before you install or operate

  • Do not rely on a side stand, loose wheel chock, or bodywork as a transport restraint.
  • Do not over-compress forks or load bars, bar-end bolts, grips, or rubber mounts outside the motorcycle and restraint-maker instructions.
  • A bolt-down restraint is only as strong as the trailer structure and attachment. Thin decking without suitable support is not a verified installation.
  • Remove or replace any webbing, hook, pin, latch, fastener, or structural part showing damage, deformation, wear, corrosion, or uncertain engagement.

Questions to settle before checkout

Do I still need a wheel chock?

For the conventional strap and handlebar-harness approaches, use the secure wheel stop or chock specified by the layout. A bike-specific axle system follows its own installation and clearance instructions.

Is a handlebar harness a complete tie-down kit?

No. The Bar-Harness II is an attachment interface. It requires separate tie-downs, a secure front-wheel stop, compatible bars, and additional rear tie-downs recommended by its maker.

Can one rear-axle restraint fit several motorcycles?

Only with manufacturer-specified pin kits and fitment for each exact bike. Shared axle part numbers do not automatically prove compatibility.
