HOW TO USE THIS TOOL
Fifth-Wheel Pin Weight: what the result means
Use while shopping for a fifth wheel and replace the percentage estimate with measured values after purchase.
Steps
- Enter estimated loaded trailer weight.
- Set a manufacturer-informed pin percentage.
- Add truck occupants, cargo and hitch hardware.
- Compare payload, trailer and combined margins.
Formula
Estimated pin load = loaded trailer × planning percentage; payload used = people/cargo + hitch + pin load.
Important limits
- Published dry pin weight is not loaded pin weight.
- Rear axle, tires, hitch and bed-clearance checks remain necessary.
