HOW TO USE THIS TOOL
Motorcycle Load & Tie-Down: what the result means
Use before loading dirt bikes or street motorcycles onto hitch carriers or trailers to verify structural limit margins.
Steps
- Enter the number of motorcycles.
- Input each bike's wet weight and accessories.
- Specify carrier capacity (hitch weight rating or trailer rating).
- Input tie-down straps and hook anchor Working Load Limits (WLL) to review margins.
Formula
Total Loaded Weight = (Bike Wet Weight + Accessories) × Number of Bikes; Carrier Margin = Carrier capacity - Total loaded weight.
Important limits
- Consult chock and tie-down manufacturer instructions for mounting angles.
- Never exceed your tow vehicle's hitch receiver weight rating.
