How to make the final choice

A product page tells you what a component can do. Your measured setup determines whether it belongs in the system.

Size from loaded tongue weight

Include trailer cargo and any cargo carried behind the tow vehicle’s rear axle as directed by the hitch maker. Too-stiff spring bars are not a substitute for correct sizing.

Measure the trailer frame and coupler

Record coupler orientation, frame depth/width, available bracket distance, obstructions, receiver opening, and required rise/drop before choosing a configuration.

Verify restoration

Follow the tow vehicle maker’s specified front-axle-load or fender-height restoration target. More tension is not automatically better.

Questions to settle before checkout

Does a weight distribution hitch increase towing capacity?

No. It does not raise the tow vehicle, receiver, axle, tire, or trailer ratings. It redistributes some load through spring forces when the vehicle and hardware permit it.

Should spring bars match the trailer’s dry tongue weight?

Use the hitch maker’s sizing method and loaded tongue weight, including applicable cargo behind the tow vehicle’s rear axle. Dry brochure values omit real travel load.

Is built-in sway control enough by itself?

No device replaces correct loading, suitable tongue weight, tire condition, speed, and an adequately matched vehicle/trailer combination.
