HOW TO USE THIS TOOL
Axle Restoration: what the result means
Use three comparable scale passes to document axle-load changes while following the tow-vehicle and hitch manufacturers' adjustment instructions.
Steps
- Record front and rear axle weights with the tow vehicle loaded but trailer disconnected.
- Connect the loaded trailer without weight distribution engaged and record both axles.
- Engage the system at the chosen adjustment and record both axles again.
- Compare the measured restoration with the current instructions for the exact vehicle and hitch.
Formula
Front-axle restoration % = (adjusted front − hitched front) ÷ (unhitched front − hitched front) × 100.
Important limits
- TowCheck does not prescribe a restoration percentage or hitch adjustment.
- Passengers, cargo, fuel and scale positioning must remain consistent between passes.
Primary references
TowCheck uses these references for terminology and planning context. Your exact vehicle, trailer, tire and equipment documentation always controls.
