Tire & Axle Load: what the result means

Use with cold-load information molded on the tire or published by its manufacturer and a measured axle load.

Steps

  1. Enter load capacity per tire at the documented pressure.
  2. Enter the tire count supporting the axle.
  3. Add measured axle load and GAWR.
  4. Use the lowest applicable margin.

Formula

Axle tire capacity = rated load per tire × tires supporting that axle.

Important limits

  • The weakest applicable tire, wheel or axle component governs.
  • TowCheck does not prescribe inflation pressure.
