HOW TO USE THIS TOOL

Battery Runtime: what the result means

Use for rough off-grid planning with a steady average load.

Steps

  1. Enter bank amp-hours and nominal voltage.
  2. Set usable capacity for the battery chemistry and policy.
  3. Enter inverter efficiency and average load.
  4. Review estimated watt-hours and runtime.

Formula

Runtime hours = amp-hours × volts × usable fraction × inverter efficiency ÷ load watts.

Important limits

  • Real loads cycle and battery performance changes with temperature, age and discharge rate.
  • Confirm limits with the battery and inverter manufacturers.
