  1. Load people, cargo, fluids and trailer as traveled
  2. Check tire condition and pressure using applicable documentation
  3. Bring vehicle, trailer, receiver, hitch and tire ratings
  4. Ask the scale operator for positioning and reweigh instructions
  5. Record steer, drive and trailer axle groups
  6. Record connection and weight-distribution conditions for every pass
  7. Keep vehicle contents unchanged between comparison passes
  8. Photograph or save each ticket before leaving
