Cargo securement recheck checklist
Use this planning aid alongside the exact manufacturer documentation and qualified inspection appropriate to your equipment.
- Confirm that every tie-down strap and anchor point has a legible Working Load Limit label
- Inspect straps for cuts, fraying, chemical damage, or UV degradation
- Verify all hook connections are fully seated in anchor points and locked if applicable
- Calculate aggregate WLL to ensure it is at least 50% of the total cargo weight
- Tighten all ratchet straps to eliminate slack and secure excess loose webbing
- Recheck tension after driving the first 50 miles, or after any sudden stops or terrain changes
- Ensure cargo is blocked, braced, or locked to prevent shifting during transit
- Verify trailer or vehicle cargo tie-down angles are between 30 and 60 degrees for optimal vector hold
