PRINTABLE TOWCHECK CHECKLIST
ATV/UTV securement checklist
Use this planning aid alongside the exact manufacturer documentation and qualified inspection appropriate to your equipment.
- Verify the trailer's loaded weight is within the trailer GVWR and vehicle tow capacity
- Position the ATV/UTV slightly forward of the trailer axle to ensure 10-15% tongue weight
- Engage the machine's parking brake and put the transmission in Park (or in gear for manual setups)
- Attach four rated tie-down straps to dedicated vehicle frame points, avoiding A-arms or axles
- Pull straps downward and outward at a 45-degree angle to create opposing tension vectors
- Compress the machine suspension slightly to pre-load the straps, but do not bottom out shocks
- Confirm all strap hook keeper gates are securely closed
- Recheck strap tension after the first 50 miles of driving
