Truck Camper Payload: what the result means
Use while shopping for a slide-in camper and again after configuring the exact truck and camper for travel.
Steps
- Enter payload from the exact truck's Tire and Loading Information label.
- Enter camper weight and every installed option not included in it.
- Add people, truck cargo, fluids, batteries and camper gear.
- Review payload margin, then independently check GVWR, both GAWRs, tires, wheels and camper compatibility.
Formula
Payload used = occupants and truck cargo + camper dry weight + options + water + propane + batteries + camper cargo.
Important limits
- A payload calculation does not establish center-of-gravity or tie-down compatibility.
- Rear axle, wheel and tire limits may govern before total payload.
